Central Bank to Issue Aggregate Social Finance Figure for First Time Today
The People’s Bank of China will issue a new economic indicator that measures the aggregate amount of "social finance" (社会融资总量), at 3pm today, a reporter with the Securities Daily learned from the central bank.
The new data set will include the aggregate amount of all loans issued in both renminbi and foreign currency, loans issued by trust companies or as bonds, bills of exchange issued by banks, corporate bonds, non-financial corporate bonds, compensation provided by insurance companies and the investment holdings in real estate and other projects held by insurance companies.
Experts said this new index might become a important indicator that will influence the setting of monetary policy, but further observation is needed before we can know exactly how the new indicator will impact on policy decisions.
