Beijing Taxis to Raise Fuel Surcharge to 2 Yuan on Saturday

Due to the recent rise in the price of fuel, the Beijing Municipal Government has announced that the 1 RMB fuel surcharge that passengers in the city's taxis are required to pay for trips over 3km will be lifted to 2 RMB as of this coming Saturday, April 9. The fuel surcharge was introduced in November 2009 and was to apply when ever the price of #93 petrol was between 6.50 and 7.10 yuan per liter. After today's price rise, the price of #93 petrol is 7.85 yuan per liter.
