6.4-Magnitude Quake Rocks West China
Summary:


A 6.4-magnitude earthquake struck Haixi Mongolian-Tibetan Autonomous Prefecture in China's western Qinghai province at 9:52 am (Beijing Time) this morning.

The epicenter (37.6N, 95.8E) was located about 35 km south-east of Da Qaidam and 165 km (100 miles) north-east of Golmud.

The China Earthquake Networks Center reported that twenty-two minutes after the first quake, a strong aftershock with a magnitude of 5.3 hit the area.?

Up until now, no casualties have been reported.
