Melamine challenges China's food safety 
Famous Chinese egg brands have also been found to be tainted by melamine, an industrial chemical, which was previously detected in products by most of China's dairy companies. The chemical is used to make products appear protein-rich in tests and can cause kidney stones. Eggmakers responded as dairymakers did, namely shifting blame to those who produce and sell animal feed.
